In the fall of 1989, Menno Luyer - with his then business partner - decided to build a wooden speedboat at their own expense. With the help of a technical draftsman and some mahogany from fellow shipbuilder Scherpel, from whom Menno had learned the trade, they managed, after 2,500 construction hours, to create a particularly beautiful boat. The early models Captain's Launch Classic, the Easy Launch and the Mogano Launch slowly developed into the more recent models Barkas SuperSport and now the Brandaris SuperSport 900 and 1100.
